"Globalistan"

Johannes Heretsch (aka DJ Globalution), world music specialist in Berlin, DJ and editor, presents a fascinating tour of the musical empire 'Globalistan'. He has selected 30 of the finest and most prestigious pearls of sound from worldwide 30 countries and put together on 2 CDs, which will be released by Lola's World Records in May 2010.

In addition to exciting newcomers there are also artists, who have been for weeks in the Top Ten of the World Music Charts Europe - or still are! (www.wmce.de) The over here relatively unknown Texmex-rockers Liber Teran are celebrating a Mariachi-influenced clever version of the classic Clash: 'Should I Stay or Should I Go'. The Berlin-Colombian Mil Santos cossets our ears with the perfectly arranged Latin Hip-Hop anthem 'Familia'. Chris Bangs & Sascha Pagnin contributed especially for this album the exclusive long edit of the feathery and extremely dancefloor fitting bossa tune 'Touch the Sun'.

From a completely different culture we encounter the charismatic 'Voice of the Sahara' Mariem Hassan with 'Alu-Ummi' - their ode to the moon. The veteran of Tropicalistas Jorge Ben Jor inspires us with his chart climber 'Mas Que Nada', this time as a rousing acoustic live version. With Sa DingDing, the queen of Chinese Electronic, we are experiencing at 'Alive' the marriage of Chinese folk culture with modern Western beats. Sarazino from the high altitude of Quito, Ecuador invites you with his catchy 'Cochabamba' to the world party of Reggae, Afropop and Latin Rock.

The smoky, sensual voice of 74-year-old tango-missionary and music rebel Juan Carlos Cacheres at Tango Trio completes our global musical journey with 'Argentina'.

Per CD sold &euro 0.50 will be donated to the Organization Medico International for their projects in Western Sahara. The artwork of this album was kindly provided by Globalistan.org, a platform of the European Erasmus Mundus Global Studies Program.
'Sounds from Globalistan' is conceived as a series: Volume 2 is already in the planning stage!
